The new product of Aeroplanes DAR is the single seat, single engine ultralight airplane DAR Solo, designed to cover US riles FAR 103 and European rules for “120kg” class. DAR Solo is based on mixed construction – aluminum wings and composite airframe. New and advanced technologies were introduced in this new aircraft and the result is one remarkable aircraft with extra low weight and good flight performance.
For the first time in manufacturing of aluminum sheet parts has been used Sheet Management. This is a new approach to design and production of sheet parts and component developed in Aeroplanes DAR. Assembling elements, like wings and tail surfaces, is easy and eliminated the subjective factor at work. Other news is introducing composite parts in DAR Solo construction. All parts are made by carbon, aramid and glass fiber in molds under vacuum and controlled temperature. The composite technology gives a possibility to integrate different parts in one. Thanks to this central beam and vertical stabilizer are one single part. The pod unites canopy, basement and pilot seat. The main Landing Gear is made by glass fibers under a new 2 stage vacuuming.
The first design of the DAR Solo is conformed to orientation to be presented as an airplane kit. That`s why airfoil and assembly are specially chosenand modified to correspond to not so qualified customers and assembly in regular workshop (table). In fact, the customer receives all important parts ready for final assembly. These important special features are obligatory for a product, which will be selling as kit set, prepared for private manual assembly.
At the final assembly of DAR Solo there has a possibility to choose between3 types of wings, 3 types of enginesq as well as 4 types of wheels. This make the choice of airplane modification very large:
- The wings are in different wing areas from 8.00; 8.97 to 10.76 sq. m. The controls of the wing are under schema flaperon, deflection of flaperon as flap is 11 and 22 degree.
- Engines are Hirth F-33 (28HP) and Hirth F-23 (50HP)
- The wheel choice is based on 2 types (4 models) – light 4” plastic -/only for asphalt runways/, medial 6 and 8” plastic / for asphalt and good grass runways / and heavy duty 8” aluminum / for bad grass runways /;
The instruments are minimal, for navigation are used Airspeed, Vertical Speed, Altitude and compass.
The engine monitoring is made by specially developed for DAR Solo unit.
